Math Teacher (2025–2026 School Year)
The Opportunity
Rooted School Vancouver is reimagining what school can be. As the first Washington State campus in the growing national Rooted School network, we exist to prepare students—especially those from historically underserved communities—to graduate with both a college acceptance in one hand and a job offer in the other.
Each year, Southwest Washington sees over 1,600 new job openings in IT and STEM fields—jobs that too often go unfilled by local talent. Rooted School Vancouver is answering that call by providing students with the opportunity to earn industry-based credentials and engage in meaningful work-based learning experiences—all while building the academic foundation for postsecondary success.
We are now seeking a Math Teacher to join our dynamic team of educators for the 2025–26 school year and beyond. This is more than a teaching position—it’s a chance to build something transformational for young people, families, and the future of our local economy.
What You’ll Do
As our Math Teacher, you will bring our school’s mission to life by designing and delivering student-centered, culturally responsive instruction in mathematics. You’ll collaborate with a close-knit team to help build a strong academic program that prepares students to thrive in both college and career—while fostering a school culture that affirms students’ identities, cultivates their sense of belonging, and pushes them to grow.
Your responsibilities will include:
Designing and implementing engaging, standards-aligned Math curriculum for grades 9–12.
Developing interdisciplinary, project-based learning opportunities in partnership with teachers across content areas.
Using student data to drive instruction, provide timely feedback, and differentiate learning supports.
Co-creating and reinforcing a joyful, inclusive classroom culture rooted in restorative practices.
Executing Rooted’s blended learning model with innovation, consistency, and care.
Participating actively in school-wide culture-building, community engagement, and continuous improvement efforts.
Supporting students in earning math-aligned industry certifications and preparing for state assessments.
Who You Are
You are a passionate, equity-driven educator with a deep belief in young people’s brilliance and the power of education to create generational change. You’re ready to roll up your sleeves to build something new—grounded in radical collaboration, reflection, and purpose.
We are looking for someone who:
Demonstrates a strong commitment to Rooted School’s mission and anti-racist, student-centered education.
Embraces a growth mindset and welcomes feedback, iteration, and innovation.
Has experience working with students from diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Has deep cultural competence and centers equity and inclusion in their work.
Possesses strong skills in relationship-building, classroom management, and trauma-informed practices.
Is fluent in instructional strategies for project-based and blended learning (preferred).
Collaborates effectively and communicates openly with students, families, and colleagues.
Required Qualifications:
Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate or eligibility to obtain certification with appropriate endorsement in Math.
Bachelor’s degree with a completed post-baccalaureate teacher certification program. Master’s in Math, STEM, or Education preferred.
Experience with standards-aligned curriculum, formative assessments, and data-informed instruction.
Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
