ParaEducator – Student Success (2025–2026 School Year)

The Opportunity

Rooted School Vancouver is not just another high school—we’re a movement to radically expand access to opportunity. As the first Washington State campus in the Rooted School national network, we equip students to graduate with a college acceptance in one hand and a job offer in the other.

Southwest Washington is growing fast, with more than 1,600 new job openings in IT and STEM fields each year. We're ensuring that young people—especially those from historically underrepresented communities—are prepared to step confidently into these futures.

We are seeking a compassionate and committed Paraeducator for Student Success to join our team. You’ll support students with diverse learning needs in reaching their full potential—academically, socially, and emotionally—by playing a vital role in personalized learning, behavioral growth, and school culture.

What You’ll Do

As a Paraeducator for Student Success, you will be an essential part of our student support team—helping to ensure that every student feels seen, heard, and supported in their learning journey. You’ll work closely with students, general and special education teachers, and support staff to foster an inclusive, equity-driven school environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individualized and small group academic and behavioral support to students in general and special education settings.

  • Assisting in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other accommodations.

  • Supporting the design and execution of academic and behavioral intervention plans in collaboration with instructional staff.

  • Monitoring and documenting student progress and sharing regular updates with teachers and school leaders.

  • Fostering a culturally responsive and trauma-informed classroom environment rooted in restorative practices.

  • Supporting scholars in accessing work-based learning and industry-based credential opportunities.

  • Taking a “whatever it takes” approach to supporting school-wide initiatives, events, and student success strategies.

Who You Are

You believe deeply in students’ limitless potential. You understand that equity in education means ensuring every student—especially those who learn differently or face systemic barriers—has the support they need to succeed. You show up each day ready to build meaningful relationships, be a strong collaborator, and do whatever it takes for kids to thrive.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Brings a passion for Rooted School’s mission and an unwavering belief in students' abilities.

  • Thrives in a start-up school environment, where flexibility, initiative, and adaptability are essential.

  • Embraces radical transparency and open-mindedness, and seeks to learn and grow in community.

  • Has experience working with students from diverse racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Communicates clearly, listens actively, and collaborates effectively with students and adults.

  • Is deeply invested in creating a restorative and inclusive school culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR passing score on a Washington State–approved Paraeducator exam (required).

  • 2–3 years of experience, preferably in a school or youth-focused setting.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting diverse learners, including students with disabilities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with young people and adults.

  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.

Why Rooted School Vancouver

At Rooted, you’ll be part of:

  • A mission-driven team that believes diversity, innovation, and student agency are at the heart of learning.

  • A school culture that prioritizes belonging, opportunity, and growth for every student and staff member.

  • A national network that provides collaboration, mentorship, and support.

  • A place where your work has tangible impact on students’ lives and futures.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $22 – $25/hour (based on experience)

  • Full-time schedule up to 40 hours/week

  • Professional development opportunities aligned with your goals and passions

  • Inclusive and supportive workplace culture committed to your growth
